How to change Novell password

To change your password, please visit the following website:

The following password change box will be displayed on the page:

Change Password

In the "Enter your username:" box please type your Novell username. This is NOT your email address and therefore will not have the @[department] in the name.

In the "Enter old password:" box please type the password that you are currently using. If you have had issues with the login and your password was reset, you should enter your default password here.

In the "Enter new password:" box, please type a new password.

In the "Confirm new password:" box, please re-type your newly chosen password.

NOTE: Please do not use the copy and paste functions to fill in this box. This will prevent a mistake when typing your first password from propagating to the second box and thereby confirming an erroneous password.

Click on the Change Password button and a new page will load with the following to signify that your Novell password has been changed successfully.

If you do not get the page to load or you do not see the successful message, please try to fill out the form again.

You may be rejected for any of the following reasons:

  • Old password is incorrect.
  • New password does not match confirmed password.
  • New password is not unique (has been used previously).
  • New password does not meet complexity requirements.

Currently the only requirement for the password is that it must be at least 7 characters long and cannot be the same as any previous passwords.

An ideal password is long and has letters, punctuation, symbols, and numbers.

Please avoid creating passwords using:

  • Dictionary words in any language
  • Words spelled backwards, common misspellings or abbreviations.
  • Words with simple obfuscation (replacing @ for a or 0 for O. 1 for I etc.)
  • Sequential or repeated numbers or characters like "314159" or "abcde" or keyboard sequences such as "qwerty"
  • Personal information such as your birthday, name, passport number, license plate number, telephone number.

Please protect your password by remembering the following:

  • Never provide your password over e-mail or in response to an e-mail request.
  • Do not type passwords on computers that you do not trust such as those in an internet cafe or airport lounge
  • Don't reveal you passwords to others, including family, friends and coworkers.
  • If you need to write down your password, store it in a safe place such as your wallet.
  • Do not leave your password in a conspicuous location such as on a post-it note attached to your computer monitor or under your keyboard.

If you are still experiencing problems changing your password, please submit a workorder.
