Training Purpose
This training introduces the SAS New Events System, a streamlined event creation and management process that uses Joomla core content instead of a third-party event system.
Why the Change?
- Easier to add and update events
- Consistent display across all SAS sites
- Less system complexity to maintain
- Accessible and calendar-friendly structure
How This Integrates with the SAS Event System
SAS Event Manager: https://eventmanager.sas.rutgers.edu/
- The SAS Event Manager remains a separate system.
- You must first create an event page on your own website using the new Joomla event process.
- After publishing the page, copy the page URL.
- Create the event inside the SAS Event Manager and include basic event information.
- Most importantly, link the event back to your website’s event page.
Conversion from JEvents to the New Event System
- Events from the past 2 years can be converted into Joomla articles upon request.
- Older events are exported and sent as a complete spreadsheet.
- A new “Manage All Events” button makes event editing easier.
- All event flyers must meet accessibility standards.
