The SAS IT and Data Analytics Office currently maintains several servers and storage arrays that collectively handle all hosting and backup of our systems. This includes file and printer sharing, workstation and printer management, web hosting, database services, document management, printer accounting, software development and staging, etc. The remaining servers function in a support capacity providing services like backups, monitoring and data storage for testing and troubleshooting by technicians. We have two sets of systems that are in geographically distant machine rooms to provide for disaster recovery if necessary.
Individual departments also run their own servers that are maintained by SAS IT and Data Analytics staff. These systems exist to serve the research and instructional needs of those areas when the central systems are not suited for those individual tasks.
