On Thursday June 20, 2024, SAS IT sent email to known users of managed Macs regarding some pending changes.  See the items below for steps on managing your Update settings and determining whether your system is affected by the password sync issue.

Changing Automatic Update Settings on macOS

If you would like to alter the Automatic Update settings on macOS, please follow the steps below to select which updates, if any, are allowed to be installed automatically.
  1. Open System Settings by clicking the Apple Menu in the top left of the screen.
  2. Select System Settings from the drop-down box.
  3. Select General from the sidebar and then select Software Update.

  4. Select the "i" button next to Automatic Updates

  5. In the window that appears, you can manipulate which automatic updates you would like to have installed for you. Press Done when you are satisfied with the selections.

Checking whether you are affected by the password-sync issue

Whether you want to check your system yourself or use multiple systems and want to see which are affected, you can use our PassSyncCheck to ascertain the status of your account(s).

  1. Launch the Intelligent Hub from the Applications folder or the menu bar, located in the upper right of the menu bar.

  2. Navigate to the Apps tab; the PassSyncCheck package will be located under New and All Apps in the Intelligent Hub.
  3. Click install and it will deliver the PassSyncCheck application to the Applications folder.

  4. Open your Applications folder and double-click on PassSyncCheck to run it. A dialog box will appear and deliver the info on your current user's account as to whether or not it is affected by the NetID password sync issue.
