AI Fundamentals Training

Videos and materials from training sessions given on 9/29/2026 and 10/1/2026.

This introductory training session provided Rutgers faculty and staff with a practical foundation in generative AI and Microsoft Copilot. Participants learned how large language models generate responses, why AI systems can sometimes produce inaccurate information, and how to use AI responsibly and effectively in their daily work. The session explored enterprise data protection within the Rutgers Microsoft 365 environment, appropriate handling of university data, and the differences between institutionally protected AI services and consumer AI tools. Attendees also received hands-on demonstrations of Copilot in Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint, and were introduced to a structured prompting framework designed to improve the quality, accuracy, and usefulness of AI-generated results for common academic and administrative tasks.

AI Information Presentation

The AI Information presentation explores the opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence and offers guidance for using it responsibly across the university. The presentation covers protecting sensitive data, choosing appropriate tools, writing effective prompts, and reviewing AI-generated code, with an emphasis on security and human oversight. it also introduces Rutgers-licensed AI services, outlines purchasing considerations, and previews university efforts to expand AI infrastructure, policies, and training, helping attendees make informed decisions about incorporating AI into their work.

Note: Training was recorded on 10/16/2026 and AI is changing fast. The video will be updated periodically to adapt to changes.
